Look To NMEDA As The Mobility Resource For People With Disabilities

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Up until recently I honestly hadn’t had any experience in working with anyone who had a disability.  But, right before Christmas my sister broke her arm.  She broke the head off her humorous and tore her rotator cuff.  Having this small glimpse into having a disability has made us realize how difficult it is to find resources for people with disabilities.

NMEDA is a non-profit association - it does not sell anything.  It is an amazing resource that promotes safe driving and equipment for disabled people.  Their members (dealers) are required to adhere to the safety standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  NMEDA’s members are those who sell handicap vans and vehicle modifications for disabled people.

When contacting a NMEDA dealer the person with a disability will be given a personalized “in-person” evaluation, to ensure the right driving solutions are given to his/her specific lifestyle and needs.  Also, if additional training is needed, the local NMEDA dealer is there to help.

My mom was a caregiver for my grandparents for many years.  That is a really tough job to undertake.  Caregivers are encouraged to contact NMEDA as well, to see how they can assist.

NMEDA also has a Quality Assurance Program (QAP) – it is actually the only recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry.  The program was developed to promote quality, safety, and reliability within the industry.  A QAP is a systematic and documented approach to quality, which ensures that customers are satisfied consistently.

The personalized care that NMEDA gives is so important – since no two people are the same, even if they have the same disability.  Rest assured that NMEDA will make sure the best suited wheelchair and/or handicap van is selected to meet your or your loved-one’s individual needs.

I encourage you to click on NMEDA and search by state or zip code to find a NMEDA dealer near you.  See how NMEDA can help you!

Thank you so much for this information! I have never heard of NMEDA before but now I know where to look if I am ever in a position to need anything!
